His whimsical books are extremely popular but sadly, not at all gender fair. While he does take on some important causes in his books, including timely political commentaries, he never gets on board with gender. The vast majority of his characters are male, and most of his writing uses a generic “he.”
So here’s my challenge to you and your children on this Seuss Birthday: take your favorite Seuss book and try to make it more fair! What if you mix up some characters? Change the language? Give it a little bit of a gender fair update! Let us know how you do!
